Students of the Faculty of Biology, Chemistry and Geography of Armenian State pedagogical University organized an event entitled “Conservation and Recognition of Cultural

Values of the Globe.” The event was organized within the framework of Cultural Geography studies.
To present the cultural problems of different countries, fifteen 4-year students of the Department of Geography staged the 40th session of the UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization).
Seven ‘cultural ministers’ from 14 countries presented the endangered cultural monuments of their countries in animated images.
Chinese representative spoke about the Chinese wall, Indian representative about Taj Mahal, Iranian delegate about Acropolis, Egyptian about the Pyramids of Egypt and Armenian about the periled Armenian khachkars (cross-stones) in the territory of Azerbaijan.
Addressing the presentees they expected them to come up with proposals for the conservation of cultural monuments.
The national dances of different countries added the unique luster of the event which was attended by students of the Faculty of Biology, Chemistry and Geography, lecturer-professorial team of the Pedagogical University and guests.
Thanking the participants and organizer of the of the event, Mrs. Svetlana Hovakimyan, Dean of the Faculty of Biology, Chemistry and Geography said, “It is interesting to be informed about the cultural values of different countries, but the measures taken by you for the preservation and restoration of these values are far more important. This was a kind of cognitive and educational lesson for each of us.”
The organizer of the event Marine Matosyan explained that they focused on those cultural monuments which are known worldwide and are really endangered.
“The students themselves sought and found information on the cultural problems of the countries in question, at the same time they getting acquainted with the historical, cultural and socio-economic conditions of those countries,” said Marine Matosyan.
She also informed the presentees that similar open lessons would be held on a continual basis and next time the other seven countries that partook at the 40th session of the UNESCO would present the menaces threatening the cultural monuments of their countries.
