The regular Academic Council session was held at the Pedagogical University; the session participants held a minute of silence in the memory of the Head of the Department of

History of Armenia, Professor Mher Karapetyan, who had been a member of the Council over a long period of times.
Further on, after approving the agenda the Head of the Department for Development Planning and Monitoring Ms. Rita Gevorgyan and the Vice Chancellor of the Education Quality Assurance and Distant Learning Mr. Tigran Ayvazyan raised the core issue of the Council session about the implementation of the University strategic plan.
In addition, among those present at the Academic Council session was the Director of the National Center for Quality Assurance Mr. Rouben Topchyan.
Ms. Rita Gevorgyan observed that even though the main guidelines of the University development strategic plan, its mission, the RA sustainable development priorities, the objectives and targets of the RA Education Development state programme 2011-2015, as well as the basic requirements and criteria submitted by the “National Center for Professional Education Quality Assurance” foundation for the accreditation process were all preserved in the revised version of the Strategic Plan, a number of amendments were still applied.

Afterwards, the Head of the Department for Development Planning and Monitoring highlighted that summarizing the considerations and recommendations of the external and internal stakeholders, the University’s constant values were defined, ten newly developed objectives were proposed reflecting the main spheres of activities of the University, for the first time measureable indicators for each objective were provided in the strategic plan to measure the progress, as well as, a planning –schedule for the strategic objectives implementation was elaborated.
The Vice Chancellor for Education Quality Assurance and Distant Learning Mr. Tigran Ayvazyan made a detailed presentation on the implementation of the University’s strategic plan with his report where he also introduced the Universities development objectives for the period of 2011-2015 together with the current objecitves and strategic directions.
And besides, through the ten basic targets of the strategic plan the Vice Chancellor reported on the undertakings realized from 2011 to 2013 and the vision of upcoming activities; the presentation received the high estimates of those present.
Following on the agenda was the question referring to the statutes of the University Faculties and the Academic Departments which was reported by the Vice Chancellor on Personnel Affairs and International Cooperation Mr. Ara Yeremyan.
Likewise, the Vice Chancellor assured that in the process of drafting the statutes the Law on the Management of Academic-Educational activities and other legal acts were taken

into account, together with the content of the University Statute, its ideology, principles and provisions. The Academic Council approved the abovementioned draft Statutes.
Furthermore, the Academic Council also discussed other current issues; by the submission of the Vice Chancellor Srbouhi Gevorgyan the Council approved seven academic topics and agreed on publishing the presented educational manuals.
What is more, during the session the Council members also approved the students’ scholarships submitted by the Deans of the Faculty of Biology, Chemistry and Geography and the Faculty of Foreign Languages.
On this occasion, the Head of the Department for Education and Methodology Affairs, Vice Chancellor Mher Meliq-Bahshyan made a suggestion to make a supplement in the Regulation on Granting Students Nominal Scholarships. By the Council’s resolution, each defined nominal scholarship will be granted to a single student only.
Likewise, the Academic Council approved the proposal made by the Dean of the Faculty of Special Education Ms. Arminei Avagyan on introducing the specialization of “ergotherapy” into the postgraduate course of the Department Special Education Pedagogy and Psychology of the given Faculty.
And last but not least, by the end of the session seven Associate Professors and three Professors of the University were elected in a secret ballot, and the University Chancellor, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor Rouben Mirzakhanyan in his turn, congratulated those who had anniversaries in the current month.
