Today, the hall of the Faculty of Culture of the Pedagogical University was all absorbed in an atmosphere of classical music. The State Youth Orchestra of Armenia, in joint
cooperation with the United States Embassy in RA, presented the programme “Youth for Youth”.
The Armenian State Youth Orchestra presented the “Hollywood Non-Stop” music event under the leadership of Artistic Director and Principal Conductor Sergey Smbatyan; the event was organized within the framework of events on the 20th anniversary of the US-Armenian diplomatic relations.
The event was opened with the greeting speech of Cultural Attaché of the United States Embassy in RA, Shaun O’Hara. He was delighted to see the hall chock-full of audience and welcomed the guests with the following words, “I have once had the pleasant opportunity to attend this concert, and what I want to mention, is that every single time I have my heart going pit-a-pat on hearing the native tunes; I am assured that you will also have the greatest pleasure of enjoying the music.”
During the concert the already classical Hollywood cinematic masterpieces sounded among which were the soundtrack from the “Godfather”, “Brave Heart”, “West Side Story”, “Pirates of the Caribbean”, “Harry Potter” and other world-famed films.
What is more, the audience had the pleasure to listen to the renowned and brightest representatives of the film-music Ennio Morricone, Nino Rota, George Gershwin, Leonard Bernstein and others.
The concert aimed to get the saturated and rich of music Armenian young people closer and more familiar with the American music.
Furthermore, under the standing-up-applauds of the audience the director of the “Center of Culture” at the Pedagogical University, Professor Arkady Shekunts granted the Khachatur Abovyan Medals to the Artistic Director and Principal Conductor of the State Youth Orchestra of Armenia Sergey Smbatyan, as ordered by the University Chancellor, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor Rouben Mirzakhanyan.
It should also be mentioned, that the State Youth Orchestra of Armenia presented the same music event in eight different higher educational establishments of Yerevan.
Gladly, the students and the lecturer-professorial team of the Pedagogical will have another wonderful chance to enjoy the concert.
