started with the blessing of a priest, avalanche of wishes and handover of certificates and presents.
One student from each faculty of the University and one pupil from the ASPU Basic School were chosen from hundreds of thousands of readers. Both of them showed the highest attendance between January and November, using the library books more than 100 times.
The deans and deputy deans of the faculties congratulated the winners and gave them prizes and certificates.
“The library is the resort of the soul,” Tigran Petrosyants, Director of the ASPU Scientific Library, reminded once again. He was glad to say that the number of best readers is increasing year by year, and many continue to rely on books as the key source of knowledge and the most important way of expanding their world-view.
Tigran Petrosyants said this year’s ceremony was unprecedented as for the first time the winner was a student taking a distance learning course at the Faculty of Primary Education. The winning student [Lilit Gyurunyan] left her ‘rivals’ behind with a difference of at least 350 books.

Heghine Khachatryan, Dean of the Faculty of Primary Education, thanked Tigran Petrosyants, for organizing the event and said that in the era of scientific and technological developments it shapes the culture of book worship among students.
“Although the event helped identify the best book-reading students of the University, it was aimed at glorifying the book. Books are not only a source of information; they are wealth and treasures hidden under the cover,” said Deacon Arthur, an inspector at Vaskenian Theological Seminary. He called on the attendees to continue seeking new hidden treasures in books.
It is the second year prizes and certificates are also given in the nomination “Most Widely Read Authors.” The books of psychologist Albert Nalchajyan were the most frequently demanded books at the library (21 350 times), followed by the books of Doctor of Social Sciences Yuri Gasparyan (7000).
