Recently, prominent composer and producer, Honored Art Worker of the Republic of Armenia, Ara Gevorgyan introduced to music lovers a new musical instrument – the bass kanon

/qanon/. Mr. Gevorgyan also heads the Chair of Music at Armenian State Pedagogical University.
During the concert arranged on the occasion, the honour to try the first three pieces of the musical instrument was granted to a group of kanon players, Sayat Nova Bard Ensemble and State Ensemble of Folk Instruments. The first samples of the instrument were devoted to the performing ensembles.
The creation of the musical instrument was entrusted to Albert Zakaryan, a master craftsman of folk instruments.
During the event, the audience was also presented a seven-minute film telling about the new musical instrument.
