The first Academic Board session of the new year was held at the Pedagogical University. To begin with, as a tradition, the Chairman of the Board, Rector Rouben

Mirzakhanyan congratulated those who had anniversary, after which granted diplomas to two Professors and seven Associate Professors for the dissertations submitted during the previous session.
Afterwards, the Vice-Rector Ara Yeremyan introduced the programmes aimed at internationalisation. He noticed that the University’s internationalisation and the corresponding targeted programmes may be effectively used in the context of globalisation, bolognisation and internationalisation with the application of the corresponding instruments and existing experience developed on different levels.
Besides, the Vice-Rector mentioned that both external factors, such as rating, accreditation, competition, and internal aspects, like educational courses, learning and internationalisation environment, international research, students and staff mobility application of research outcomes in education were taken into consideration.
“The main and the most important aim of the ASPU internationalisation is to improve educational services and quality of research, the University’s competitiveness both on national and international levels, create favourable environment for intercultural discourse”, added Mr. Ara Yeremyan and introduced the University’s internationalisation processes, cooperating universities, organizations, the University’s membership, existing projects and the problems to the solution of which the Pedagogical will be pursuant in the upcoming years.

Further on, the Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs Ms. Srbouhi Gevorgyan referred to the organization of the University’s research and publication activities. The latter also observed that the research activities are one of the priority areas of the University especially in our days when the research institutes are considered to be providing the best education.
Likewise, the Vice-Rector presented the research and methodological activities implemented at the University, the cooperation of research centres, the Universities research centre activities, international conferences organized in the University in 2013, participation of the teaching staff in national conferences and the prerequisites for the PhD education development in ASPU.
Increased balance of young scientists, involvement of highly qualified young scientists in the sphere of education, improvement of science and industry relations, creation of projects, establishment of conditions to raise and develop the number of novice researchers, involvement of young researchers in international projects- as the Vice-Rector assures, it is with this policy that the perspective long-term development of the science field may be achieved.
“Currently, a wide range of activities for the internationalisation of the journals are implemented at the University”, informed the Vice-Rector or Academic Affairs adding the following, “in the primary stage, it is intended to send at least one article from each Academic Department to international peer-reviewed journals”.
In his turn, the University Rector observed that there would be difficulties but the published works, the extracts and cooperation with the international peer-reviewed journals will

state whether the Department is an academic unit or not.
Later on, the report on strategic development plan for the ASPU College and Secondary school delivered by the Acting Head of the Department of Professional Education and Applied Pedagogy Ms. Aida Topuzyan was the next issue topic of the Academic Board discussion.
With this reference, Ms. Topuzyan mentioned that considering mutual interests of the University and the educational centre, cooperation, partnership, creation and piloting of joint programmes, text-books, students pedagogical and research internships, training future teachers, lecturers and students research activities, testing the dissertations, learners professional orientations, future applicants enrolment- all these underlie the strategic plan.
“The Educational centre is aimed at the multi-profile development of learners, their professional orientation, and primary professional education, as well as the formation of favourable educational environment and its continuous development”, Ms. Aida Topuzyan added.

More to the point, she mentioned that the aim of the educational complex is to create a modern academic innovative centre. a kindergarten-school, elementary, secondary, high-school institutions and a college, the complex will have the abovementioned structure that will also comprise additional educational centres, professional support and diagnostic services.
In addition, Ms. Aida Topuzyan thoroughly presented the strategic development directions of the complex and the ways to achieve its objectives. The Academic Board unanimously approved the draft plan and decided to discuss the suggestions and remarks during the next session.
And last but not least, Doctor of Political Sciences, Candidate of Philosophy Mr. Levon Shirinyan was re-elected as the Head of the Department of Politology and History of Law in a secrete voting, as well as four candidate dissertations were approved, and a few manuals were guaranteed for printing.
