Towards a Safe Society
04.03.2014
1 March is the World Civil Defense day; this year’s motto is “Civil Defense and Prevention Culture for a Safe Society

The Pedagogical University has developed a tradition of students’ awareness, while demonstration lessons and various practical-demonstration trainings of creating and preventing emergency situations have become the key component of the learning process.

The regular demonstration lesson was organized in the Faculty of Fine Arts with the participation of sophomores of Painting and Theory of Art; besides, among those present at the demonstration lesson were the Head of the Department of Medical Care, Emergency and Civil Defense Mr. Hakob Grigoryan and the Head of the University’s Civil Defense Headquarters Mr. Shota Babayan.

On this occasion, Lecturer Perch Karapetyan thoroughly introduced the students with the types of the corresponding patterns, defense principles. Speaking about the shelters and their necessary categories of protecting from the wave strikes, the Lecturer tried to inform the students to the extent possible about the elementary rules to save their lives.

In addition, the Lecturer also noticed that it is very important to ensure the students’ regular attendance at classes for the senior students to give accurate information to the rescuers about the number of students.

“In defense patterns one should be isolated from the external world keeping certain conditions of subsistence. In order to ensure proper breathing one must use the oxygen cylinders and wear compressed air inhalers”, mentioned Mr. Perch Karapetyan adding that as Yerevan was located in a risk zone, deep and profound knowledge was needed to be protected from disasters, which was still missing in them.
