Women’s Day.
On March 7, the Centre of Culture and Department of Television Direction prepared a wonderful gift on the occasion of the beautiful spring holiday –March 8. Thirteen students of the University headed by Professor Aida Hovhannisyan and Associate Professor Herbert Gasparyan performed excerpts from the plays of Ray Cooney (â„– 13) and Eduardo De Filippo (Risk, Cylinder and Filumena Marturano). The students performed the musical pieces with great acting skills and fascinated the packed hall.
“Dear women, we hope that you will recognize yourselves,” the students addressed the audience before the performance. Indeed, the focus of the performance was Woman – with her beauty, charm, magnetism and mystery. Starting from the image of Clara Zetkin, an advocate for women's rights, the students moved on to represent the image of the modern-day woman. They played the female roles very naturally, with directors having skillfully combined classical and modern music. The students also demonstrated their choreographic talent and dancing skills.

A. Hovhannisyan /head of the art workshop of the 3rd course/ and H. Gasparyan / head of the art workshop of the 2nd course/ had carefully selected the material, including Armenian elements in the humorous musical shows. The audience had a unique opportunity to enjoy interesting, bold and unexpected directorial ideas, colourful and imaginative acting solutions, music, dance and stage images, which are highly important for providing actors’ natural and vivid ensemble collaboration.
The event was attended by a great number of university employees and students from different faculties.
The students participating in the event demonstrated [on the stage] their great taste and acting skills, creating natural and emotional images and giving the audience moments of genuine delight throughout the performance.
It was difficult to hide admiration and delight in the brilliant directorial work, as well as acting professionalism of Lilit Abajian, Hermine Andrikyan, Hovhannes Asvadurov, Asya Asatryan, Serzh Arzumanyan, Maria Gasparyan, Manush Gyozalyan, Svetlana Gevorgyan, Mesrop Tsakhikyan, Boris Kirakosyan, Hrach Harutyunyan, Sasnuhi Manukyan, Elizabeth Sedoyan and Karine Vardanyan. Siting in the front rows of the hall, Professor Aida Hovhannisyan watched the students with undisguised admiration, pride and excitement. Head of the Culture Centre, Honoured Art Worker Arkadi Shekunts noted that the students performed before the packed hall much better than during the rehearsals; all concerns experienced during the rehearsals were left behind.
At the end of the event, Mr. Shekunts shared his impressions. "It was the best and most beautiful option to congratulate women and girls on the spring holiday, because you can hardly do anything special to surprise a woman."
