Recently, the Department of Development and Applied Psychology of Armenian State Pedagogical University in cooperation with the Armenian Psychoanalytical Association (ArPA)

conducted a video seminar on “Attachment and separation at an early stage of children’s mental development.”
The seminar was conducted by Patrick Koven, a board member of the French Psychological Society, lecturer of the Faculty of Medicine and Psychology, who detects early signs of autism spectrum disorder in early childhood.
During the seminar, the expert focused on psychopathological manifestations resulted by the lack or insufficient existence of emotional connection with a primary caregiver - mother - at the mental development stage of a newborn or infant. He also presented in detail the mental development in children, the significance of attachment patterns in the personality development, symptoms and signs of depression in children, ways and methods of its psychological treatment.
The specialist also spoke about classical psychoanalytic approaches to the aforesaid problem and their future developments. During the seminar, the attendees also watched a documentary and short films telling about the experiments conducted by Austrian specialist K. Lorenz and America researchers.
The seminar was attended by ASPU lecturers, MA students and postgraduate students.
