the University’s ten faculties.
First-year students from socially vulnerable families and border regions, who study in the paid system and have demonstrated excellent performance and activity, were awarded during the scholarship competition announced by YFA with support of the Armenian Government.
Tuition fees of these students will be reduced by 80 percent during the 2013-2014 academic year.
In his congratulatory speech, Nersik Margaryan said the programme aims to address and alleviate the social problems that affect students and promote their academic performance.
“The Pedagogical University continues the accreditation process. The quality of education and educational processed have been significantly improved. It is not accidental that the University was the first higher education institution to participate in the programme due to the level of participation and the number of awardees. Over 259 students applied for the programme against the 104 students of the previous year, which is also due to the SC efforts to ensure broader awareness of the programme.”

Among the changes carried out at the University, Nersik Margaryan underlined the fact that freshmen participate in physical education classes in uniforms provided by the University and have free access to the University’s swimming-pool. “Everything is done to make your daily academic routine meaningful and exciting. The scholarship evidences that students in the 21st century should be armed with deep knowledge.”
Vardouhi Barseghyan, a first-year student of the Faculty of Art Education, agrees with the SC Chairman. She had no hope to receive the scholarship, but says that tuition discounts – be they big or small – are important for each student.
Ani Arakelyan, a student of the Faculty of Educational Psychology, says she is glad to see that knowledge is valued in these days and good performance helps reduce tuition fees.
