13.03.2014
Armenian State Pedagogical University hosted on Thursday a new group of schoolchildren. At the initiative of Dean Gagik Demirkhanyan, Faculty of Mathematics, Physics and

Informatics, over 30 pupils of Yerevan High School N43 after Grigor Zohrap visited the University, walked around its museum, scientific library and laboratories of Quantum Electronics and Integrated Optics Materials and Non-linear Optical, Photonic and Laser Materials.

The pupils were delighted to visit the University's observatory where, with the help of Sergey Nersisyan, Candidate of Physical and Mathematical Sciences and Associate Professor, they were introduced to the telescope parameters, as well as the forms and rules for their use.

The tour around the University ended with a game competition. Four teams - “43,” “Varzharan,” “Nzhdeh” and “Zohrap” - were formed from the pupils of the school and ASPU Basic College, which competed in an intellectual game.

The game was assessed by a jury that included Naira Safaryan, Head of the ASPU Basic (High School) College, Lilit Vahanyan, Chair of the SC Intellectual Commission, Armine Galstyan, Chair of the SC of the Faculty of Mathematics, Physics and Informatics, and Suren Hovhannisyan, an 11th grade pupil of High School N43.

After summarizing the results of the one-round competition, “Zohrap” became winner gaining the highest points. “Varzharan” came second.

Professor Hamlet Mikaelyan awarded the pupils of the winning team with the first volume of one of his books and promised to give the second volume when they became the students of the Faculty of Mathematics, Physics and Informatics.

Karine Bastoyan, Deputy Principal of the High School, a graduate of the Pedagogical University, compared the changes at the University with the years of her studies. She says the equipped laboratories, libraries, the museum presenting the University’s history and activities will greatly help students in their professional orientation.

Armine Muradyan, a 12 grade pupil studying in the Humanitarian stream of the High School, has visited the University many times. She has decided to continue her studies at the Faculty of Art Education and specialize in fashion design.

“Everything was interesting and impressive. I am leaving the University with new impressions and information about the educational institution with the expectation to become its student in a few months,” she said in conversation with old.aspu.am.

A pleasant surprise was awaiting the schoolchildren at the end of the visit; they were given calendars [with the University photos], albums and books.
