Armenian State Pedagogical University and Sofia University Signed a Cooperation Treaty

Armenian State Pedagogical University after Khachatur Abovyan and the best university of Bulgaria, Sofia University St. Kliment Ohridski signed a five-year memorandum at the presence of the RA Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan and the Bulgaria Prime Minister Boyko Borisov.  

 

“Good old connections have been established between our countries’ universities. The subject Armenology has been included into the university course schedule for many years,” said the Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov during the joint press conference with the RA Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan on Tuesday.”

 

In addition, Borisov stated that within five years the University publishing house issued a trilogy about Armenian history in Bulgarian. 

 

“This treaty implies cooperation between our universities for the coming five years,” stated the University Chancellor Rouben Mirzakhanyan.

 

He also mentioned that among the planed programmes for the period are organization of joint conferences, students, lecturers, and administrative staff exchanges, combined researches, educational program implementations according to the subjects mentioned on the work curriculum, and mutual recognition of the certificates.

 

 

This cooperation will be in the fields of education, science and pedagogical activities by practicing all the available means and resources of modern technologies.

 

 

Moreover, the Armenian State Pedagogical University Chancellor did not exclude the scientific research implementation in Armenia about the History of Bulgaria within the context of the signed agreement. 

 

Armenian State Pedagogical University after Khachatur Abovyan was established in 1922.

 

And the Sofia University, which is named after one of the founders of the Slavonic script, St Kliment Ohridski, is one of the best universities in Bulgaria and was founded in 1888.

 

The Chancellor of the Sofia University after St. Kliment Ohridski is Doctor of Historical Sciences, the author of thirteen books, Ivan Ilchev.

 

In addition, on an interesting coincidence, the two Chancellors who signed the agreement have many things in common. They are both Doctors of Historical Sciences, both of them finished English basis school N114 each in his country, and prior to being selected Chancellors, were Faculty Deans in the same Universities; moreover, the fathers of both worked in the same Universities, and are Historians in their profession.
