Geographic phenomena in the focus of an integrated lesson
24.03.2014
First-year MA students of the Faculty of Biology, Chemistry and Geography recently organized an open lecture-discussion on “Movements of Crustal Plates” within the framework of

 the research practice.

During the event, the students used new technologies in teaching Geography, including maps and map-schemes, as well as the equipment of the Engineering Science and Materials Processing Laboratory, adjusting them to the objectives of the event and turning them into portable models. They helped students explain various geographical phenomena. For example, chain transfer tools were used for simulating movements of plates.

The lecture was attended by undergraduate and graduate students of the Faculty majoring in Geography and Oligophrenopedagogy.

Participating in the event were also lecturers Nerses Samvelyan and Marieta Koloyan, who summed up the results of the lecture, stressing the importance of the raised issues.

The open lecture made the perception of the material more effective; the cooperation between the departments of the two faculties made the material more interesting and diverse promoting the development of students’ creative thinking and outlook extension,” Anahit Minasyan, Associate Professor of the Department of Socio-Economic Geography and its Teaching Methods, said in conversation with old.aspu.am.

The students were also pleased with the results of the lecture. At the end of the event they expressed a wish to continue similar integrated lessons in the future.
