The Debate Club of the Faculty of Primary Education has summed up the results of a faculty tournament which included second-year students from the four divisions of the Faculty.

Experts from different sectors were invited to the University to participate in seminars organized within the framework of the month-long event.
During the discussion on religious (sectarian) organizations and the need for restricting their activities, Candidate of Philosophical Sciences, Associate Professor Andranik Stepanyan familiarized students with the types of religious organizations, their activities and development trends across the world, while Anush Sarkisyan, a specialist of the Department of Education Reforms and Quality Assurance, focused on issues related to quality education.
After summarizing the results of discussions and debates, the teams of the divisions of Preschool Pedagogy, Psychology and Pedagogy and Methodology /primary education/ participated in the final round of the debate on “The right to quality education is fully exercised in Armenia.”
In the ensuing heated discussion, students debated over the quality of education, appropriateness and results of amendments in the context of general and vocational education.

They pointed out their shortcomings, compared the educational system in Armenia with that of foreign countries, specifically Germany, and offered their vision for quality education.
The team of the Division of Preschool Pedagogy and Psychology became winner in the final round, with Lusine Fahradyan, a student of the Division of Pedagogy and Methodology being named the best debater and participant of the tournament.
Talking to old.aspu.am, founding head of the Debate Club, Lianna Chobanyan, stressed that significant qualitative changes were observed in the speech of participants. “They [students] have become more confident, developed their analytical thinking and skills and already master the rules of a courteous and civilized debate,” she said.
