KHACHATUR ABOVYAN ARMENIAN STATE PEDAGOGICAL UNIVERSITY

Today, the Editor-in-Chief of the “Muzey” magazine, Candidate of History, Associate Professor Yelena Medvedeva visited the Pedagogical University. In fact she will refer to the museums in Armenia in the upcoming issue of the magazine by the end of her visit.

During the visit, the guest got familiar with the Pedagogical University Museum where she was introduced with the history of the University and its activities. Yelena Medvedeva admitted the following, “I am caught in rapture, much more than merely surprised with the modern technologies functioning at the museum due to which it has become possible to bring together a large variety of information for visitors of different ages”. 

Besides, during the visit Yelena Medvedeva also met the ASPU Rector Rouben Mirzakhanyan; among those present at the meeting were the Vice –Rector for Academic Affairs Ms. Srbouhi Gevorgyan, the Head of the Department of Museology and Monuments Study Mr. Lavrenti Barseghyan, the Director of the Museum Alvard Grigoryan, the President of the Armenian Committee of International Council of Museums Ms. Marinei Haroyan and the Deputy Director of the Republican Union of Employers of Armenia Mr. Souren Chiboukhchyan.

On this occasion, Mr. Rouben Mirzakhanyan highlighting the role and importance of the Museum in learning processes as well as visits to the Museum, mentioned, “the Museum is not only a place for demonstrating antique materials; visitors should learn here, and pedagogues  should be able to apply the museum resources.”

In addition, those present discussed a number of other general issues outlining a wider scope for cooperation, particularly on arranging students’ internships in museums of Russia.

And last but not least, at the end of the meeting Ms. Yelena Medvedeva expressed her delight regarding the activities of the University, the Museum and the Department of Museology and Monument Studies as well as suggested that they should include the course “Museum Education” in other professions too.
