
Today, the intercollegiate song festival “Nreni (Pomegranate tree)” held at the Pedagogical University announced the start of the series of events on the 20th anniversary of the ASPU Student Council.
In the first part of the event the host Griqor Korkotyan and hostess Lucinei Piroyan introduced the history of the Student Council and its presidents, who headed the Council in the course of consecutive years. The opening address was made by the current president of the ASPU Student Council Mr. Nersik Margaryan who assured that various upcoming events were going to take place on the anniversary of the body defending students’ interests.
The list of participants of the intercollegiate contest-festival included students from the Pedagogical University, Yerevan State University, State Engineering University of Armenia, National University of Architecture and Construction, Yerevan State Linguistic University after Valeri Brusov and the University of Culture, Yerevan State Academy of Fine Arts, Yerevan State Institute of Theater and Cinema, as well as the student of the ASPU (High-School) College Vardan Galstyan.

During the contest –festival the participants presented multi-genres songs including folk and modern pieces.
The participants were assessed by the jury consisting of artists, who had massive contribution and merit in the art of music such as the RA Honoured Art Worker, composer Yuri Hovhannisyan, the Head of Department at the Yerevan State Conservatory after Komitas, the winner of the RA State Award Arzas Voskanyan, the soloist of the B.P. band, author of a number of TV programmes, singer Andrey Simonya, the Professor of the ASPU Faculty of Art Education, singer Henrik Simonyan.
In the 10 points scoring system the third prizes were awarded to two participants – the student of the Yerevan State Linguistic University after Valeri Brusov Ofelya Sahakyan, and the student of the ASPU (High-school) College Vardan Galstyan correspondingly; the second prize went to the student of the Yerevan State Institute of Theatre and Cinema Elizabeth Adikyan, and the first prize went to the student of the Pedagogical University Tatevik Ayvazyan.
“We are deeply impressed with the performances of all participants; in fact it was a rather difficult and quite a responsible task for us to choose the winners,” mentioned the President of the jury Arzas Voskanyan who also stressed the importance of the activities realized by the ASPU Director of the Cultural Centre, the RA Honoured Art Worker,Professor Arkady Shekunts in the cultural life of the Pedagogical University.

“No matter what profession you choose for your future, never give up music; music is pleasure and happiness for your friends and yourselves,” Arkadi Shekunts mentioned assuring that it is not important to win, it is much more important to participate and to enjoy the admiration.
