ASPU will have an innovative educational complex

A working meeting was convened at Armenian State Pedagogical University on Thursday with the participation of ASPU Rector RoubenMizakhanyan, Deans of Faculties and Heads of Departments, Principals of ASPU Basic (High) School College and N57 Primary School after VahanTotovents.
 

During the meeting, Aida Topuzyan, Head of the Department of Professional Education and Applied Pedagogy, presented the draft strategic plan for developingthe Basic (High) School College and Primary School. 
 
In her speech, she underlined that the programme aims to ensure personal, social and spiritual development of learners and their competitiveness in the national and international educational space through the introduction of quality standards on all levels of education. 
 
“The aim of the educational complex is to create a center for innovative research, a complex, which will contribute to the implementation of continuing education, ensure high-quality education, help professional orientation and development, promote development of Pedagogy and assist in the creation of alternative programmes, syllabuses and textbooks,” Aida Topuzyansaid adding that the mission of the educational complex is to become a community of learners and teachers.
 
The professor stressed that unlike other educational intuitions, the educational complex will have a number of characteristic features: teachers will constitute 30 percent of its governing board; 30 % will be parents, 30%  - University staff members and 10% - high school students. The next major difference will be the existence of additional centres – research labs, schools of future leaders and professional development of teachers, etc.
 
Creation of friendly learning environment and positive psychological climate, modernisation of educational content, teaching methods and forms, strengthening of logistics base of the educational complex, implementation of pedagogical personnel policy, deepening cooperation with the community, family and other social institutions, boosting and promotinglearners’ autonomy, implementation of joint research works by the University and complex representatives: the meeting focused on the strategic directions of development of the Basic School and Primary School and the means for achieving these goals. 
 

The presentees addressed a number of questions to the professor and made their suggestions. HakobGrigoryan, Acting Head of the Department of First Aid, Emergency and Civil Protection, suggested involving the Department in the meetings aimed at transferring pedagogical, health-related and psychological knowledge to parents. 
 
When answering questions about the measures taken by the University to help learners in their professional orientation and boost the reputation of Teaching as a profession, Aida Topuzyan said the opening of a new, pedagogical stream will help solve the problems. Also, a proposal was made that postgraduate students and degree seekers conduct experiments in schools, which will contribute to the learning process and better the quality of research works. 
 
While ASPU Rector RoubenMirzakhanyan welcomedthe creation of the educational complex, he highlighted theimplementation of the learning content, saying in most cases the emphasis is laid on the logistics base.
 
He said the educational complex will be based on national educational traditions, will have new-quality teachers. Education will be free and the complexis not excluded to become a leader in the sphere.
