Feast of Resurrection of Lord celebrated with repatriated children
22.04.2014

An Easter celebration was organised at Armenian State Pedagogical University within the framework of the project Reintegration Center Armenia (RECEA) for the children involved in the project and their parents.

The participants attended a divine liturgy for the Resurrection of Jesus Christ at St Grigor Lusavorich (Gregory the Illuminator) Church in Yerevan and watched an electronic presentation about the Easter Feast, its meaning and significance, as well as folk customs and traditions connected with the festival. Later, they gathered around the table for traditional Easter dishes.

The organisers of the event believe that similar meetings familiarise children with their native culture, history and traditions and help children feel themselves as part of Armenia and build a strong bond with their native land.  The project Reintegration Center Armenia (RECEA), financed by the European Commission and carried out under the trusteeship of AWO Bremerhaven, launched on December 1, 2012. The programme is carried out by the German organisation AWO Heimatgarten in cooperation with Armenian, Bulgarian and Polish organisations.

The programme includes Armenian State Pedagogical University after Khachatur Abovyan (ASPU), "Hope and Help" NGO and German Educational and Cultural Centre.

An adaptation centre opened at the ASPU within the framework of the project which aims to reduce the problems faced by remigrants, contribute to their social adaptation to the new environment and render psychological socio-cultural and legal help to repatriates.
