Future Educators Visit NorkMarash Retirement Home
14.05.2014

Patriotic songs, dances, recitation and sweets for the elderly residents of the NorkMarash Retirement Home… Within the framework of three-week pedagogical practices graduate students of the Faculty of Primary Education of Armenian State Pedagogical University (ASPU) visited the veterans of the nursing home to congratulate them on the occasion of the May triple holiday.

This was the students’ first visit to the nursing home which is the home of 216 elderly people. “Let it be the first but not the last visit. We are grateful and proud to have such humane and gifted young people who come to replace their educators,” said the elderly people. Many of the occupants of the nursing home are former pedagogues.

The pedagogical practice was organized and supervised by Professor Aida Topuzyan, Head of the Department of Professional Education and Applied Pedagogy, and Lecturer Armine Dallakyan.

Talking to old.aspu.am, MsDallakyan stressed the importance of the initiative and said a good educator should be humane, respectful and appreciative and transfer these qualities to his/her pupils. She also assured us that the initiative was a success and said the visits will become frequent in the future.

“We saw gratitude on their faces, blessing and expectations for new meetings,” the students told old.aspu.am after the visit. They promised to keep elderly people in the focus of their attention.
