The regular Academic Councils session agenda included issues on the elections of the Dean of the Faculty of Art Education, the conferment of academic titles, the events
organized on the 90th anniversary of the University, teaching foreign languages at the University, and other relevant issue.
Prior to discussing the agenda, the President of the Academic Council of the University, the Chancellor, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor Rouben Mirzakhanyan congratulated those who had birthdays this month- Poghos Simonyan, Herbert Gasparyan, Marina Aghabekyan, and Hrachik Nazaryan.
Afterwards, Mr. Rouben Mirzakhanyan awarded Doctorate and Professor Diplomas to Mkrtich Sahradyan, Vardges Gyulikyan, Marine Yaghubyan, and Anahit Minasyan.
Passing to the agenda, the first issue on it related to the elections of the Dean of the Faculty of Art Education. The only nominated candidate was the Acting Dean of the Faculty, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor Sargis Elbakyan.
The latter introduced the principal provisions for the development plan for the Faculty of Art Education, the organizational and teaching-educational work with students, scientific, creative activities, and the anti-corruption programme at the Faculty.
The Dean’s candidate assured those present that in case he is selected, the above mentioned development project will come true during the consecutive five years.
Later on, after a secret ballot, Sargis Elbakyan was chosen the Dean of the Faculty of Art Education with 55 for, 1 against and 2 invalid votes.
The next issue on the agenda was introduced by the Head of the Department of Armenian History, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor Mher Karapetyan.

The latter set forth the list of the candidates nominated for the academic titles to the members of the Academic Council. All the nominated candidates were approved in a secret ballot.
The following issue on the Academic Council agenda was introduced by the Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor Rouben Mirzakhanyan. The University Chancellor discussed the events arranged on the 90th anniversary of the University.
“This is a wonderful occasion to once again focus the public attention towards the Pedagogical University. Throughout years of its existence, the University has launched about 100 000 graduates. The work of many of those graduates attributed to the establishment of Armenian National School, its success and accomplishment,” the University Chancellor stated. Mr. Rouben Mirzakhanyan also underlined that the Pedagogical University is the first in the country that has organized an international conference.
“The conference “Theoretical and Practical Problems of Development of Transforming Society”, due from 16-17 April, is unique in its type. On that occasion we are going to host internationally renowned philosophers and psychologists from 14 countries from all over the world. I am much convinced that this initiative will find its commendable place among the events organized on our anniversary,” he added.
And last but not least, the Head of the Department of Educational and Methodological Work Coordination, the Vice Chancellor Mher Meliq-Bakhshyan made a presentation to the members of the Academic Council regarding the events organized to bring out the efficiency of teaching foreign languages. The Council members unanimously approved the policy of teaching foreign languages and actions made for its regulation.
Other current issues were also discussed at the Academic Council.
