It has become a good tradition for graduates of the Faculty of Culture, Department of Dance Education, to perform a final concert during the state graduation examination in addition to demonstrating their theoretical knowledge of the subject. In that way, they celebrate the entry of a new generation of dance teachers and choreographers into the world of professional dances.
During the concert-examination titled “At the Crossroads of Dances” held at the National Academic Theatre of Opera and Ballet after Alexander Spendiarian, ASPU graduates of the 2013-2014 academic year showed the audience their dancing skills, as well as their interpretation of dances of different nations, proving that dances have had exceptional importance in the formation of spiritual values and cultural relations.
For the first time, choreographers combined on the stage folk dances of different nations, including those of Brazil, Greece, China, France, India, Ireland, Italy, Lebanon, Russia, U.S., Iran, Spain, Ukraine and Armenia. The students appeared on the stage in national costumes and demonstrated the rich cultural heritage of each country. Also, a video was shown that helped the audience form a complete impression about each country.

“Nations introduce themselves in the history of mankind first of all with their culture: dances have their unique place in the national culture and they are passed down to us passing through certain formations over centuries,” said Karen Gevorgyan, Dean of the Department of Dance Pedagogy. He also thanked the graduates and lecturers of the Department for their unconditional devotion to dances.
The Professor also thanked ASPU Rector Ruben Mirzakhanyan, Dean of the Faculty of Culture Gevorg Tadevosyan, General Manager of Viva Cell MTS Company Ralph Yirikian and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Pyunik Foundation Gabriel Jemberjyan for assisting in the organization of the concert and acquisition of national costumes.
“Today they [students] were anointed with the chrism of the great and true art – dance, and became its faithful apostles,” form master Gohar Abrahamyan said, wishing the graduates good luck in the future.

The bouquet of dances of different nations was completed with Kochari, an Armenian folk dance.
The examination was evaluated by a professional commission including Hovhannes Tadevosyan, Head of “Taron” Art Centre, Honored Worker of Culture of the Republic of Armenia, Srbuhi Tadevosyan, ASPU Vice-Rector for Educational and Scientific Affairs, Gevorg Tadevosyan, Dean of the Faculty of Culture, Karen Gevorgyan, Head of the Department of Dance Pedagogy, Lecturer Gohar Abrahamyan and Honored Artist of Armenia Minas Khachatryan.
