The service Audo Guide was presented at Armenian State Pedagogical University (ASPU) on Tuesday with the joint efforts of the ASPU and representatives of IZI Travel Company. The event was attended by a number of museum directors, vice-rectors of the University, members of the teaching staff and guests.
ASPU Vice-Rector for Educational and Scientific Affairs SrbuhiGevorgyanhighlighted the introduction of the service at the University and said it will also be available to persons with disabilities, as in addition to audio-texts the service also offers audio-translations. “IZI Travel offers audio guide solution for indoor and outdoor and an open platform approach for museums as well as cities and tourist attractionsintended for pedestrians, cyclists, city tours, walking tours, bus tours for groups. So, the service will enable us to arrange tourist guides stating from the University Museum to Abovyan park,” she said.
In the result of nine-month-long work, the service is available to Museum visitors in two languages – Armenian and English. However, in the future the service will be available in other languages as well. Audio guides are often in multilingual versions and are usually available in 37 languages. The service is free and available for Android, iOS, Windows operating systems.
During the meeting, Marianna Manucharyan, an employee of the ASPU Museum, presented the technical specifications of the Audo Guide system.
Anahit Hovhannisyan, a representative of IZITravel Company in Armenia, hailed the assiduous and consistent work of the Museum employees,emphasizingtheir inexhaustible imagination. In the name of the Company, she presented Museum Director AlvardGrigoryan a Samsung smartphone with Audio Guide application.
Talking to old.aspu.am, Anahit Hovhannisyan said the ASPU Museum was the first to join the Audio Guide service;it is primarily designed for individual visitors who will be introduced to the Museum through the service.
Museum Director AlvardGrigoryansaid, in turn, that the introduction of the service will help increase the Museum’s popularity and attract more visitors, especially from foreign countries.
Participating in the meeting was also NarineTukhikyan, Director of HovhannesTumanyan Museum, whodid not conceal her admiration for the University Museum, saying it is a unique and beautiful place.
“The museum has its unique place among university museums. The newly introduced service will make the museum recognisablein the world andwill enable people “to visit” it 24 hours a day. I am glad that the Museum went ahead of others and was the first to join the service. The bigger a museum is, the greater work is to be done there. I hope that other museums will follow you example as you have done tremendous work,” she added.
Audio Guide service is an innovation in Armenian museums which enables establishments to provide information on museums in any corner of the world.
