KHACHATUR ABOVYAN ARMENIAN STATE PEDAGOGICAL UNIVERSITY

“If you have to ask what jazz is, you'll never know,” said Louis Armstrong, one of the greatest jazz musicians of all times known worldwide as the King of Jazz. With the words of the famous jazzman in mind, the Faculty of Culture of Armenian State Pedagogical University organised a jazz matinee.

During the event, the presentees also watched videos on a number of social issues, including negligence and violence against children. 

Also, the newly formed music band of the ASPU Student Council, which consists solely of students, performed different jazz compositions. The band involves guitarist Suren Yeghiazaryan, saxophonist Gevorg Sargsyan, pianist Salvina Aslanyan, drummer Vrej Davtyan and soloist Nare Hayrapetyan.

Talking to old.aspu.am, Suren Yeghiazaryan, the artistic head of the band, a student of the Faculty of Educational Psychology and Sociology, said ‘similar events contribute to students’ cultural development and will be continued in the future.’
