25.06.2014

Today, the Pedagogical University Library was enriched with four copies of the illustrated books headed “Social Realism and Soviet Armenian Art” authored by the RA Honoured Art Worker Rouben Mirzakhanyan and the RA Honoured Worker of Science, Professor Hravard Hakobyan.

The co-author of the illustrated book Hravard Hakobyan expressed her hope for the book to find its unique place at the University’s library of rich and old traditions.

Speaking about the contextual part she reminded that after all revolutions negative and repudiating attitude had always been developed towards the former time.

“After the collapse of the Soviet Union the new generation particularly in Armenia denied the past during which positive and appreciable changes took place in the sphere of science, art and education. Time was needed for people to start appreciating the value and the importance of what they lost.”

The RA Honoured Worker of Science is happy that the art of the soviet time, depicted in this book, receives equally higher estimations, and hopes for the book to be useful for both - students and lecturers.

In his turn, the ASPU Library Director expressed his acknowledgements to Rouben Mirzakhanyan and Hravard Hakobyan for replenishing the Library with one more unique book of high value and mentioned, “It is a solid contribution to present a book introducing the art of painting of a whole period with all its details, album illustrations and references.”
