The Summer School project implemented by Armenian State Pedagogical University (ASPU), University of Oulu (Finland) and Lithuanian University of Educational Sciences with the support of the Youth Foundation of Armenia is underway.
The second day of the project was also full of different events. Accompanied by ASPU representatives, the Finnish and Lithuanian students visited the pagan temple of Garni and Geghard monastery complex - popular tourist destinations in Armenia. “Everything was wonderful. I am extremely impressed with Armenia. The country is full of historic and picturesque places. The temple of Garni is so old and it has been preserved over the centuries. I wonder how they could build such a church inside a rock,” Liisa Harju, a student of the University of Oulu, told old.aspu.am.

After the visit, at the Aghavnadzor-based educational unit of the Pedagogical University, Lithuanian students introduced their country and its traditions. They compared the Baltic Sea with Lake Sevan and said that the two countries have a joint celebration: Tiarn'ndaraj, known as Trndez among Armenians, is known as St. John’s Day in Lithuania.
Aista Bikmanite, Chairperson of the Student Council of the Lithuanian University of Educational Sciences, is glad to visit Armenia and participate in the Summer School project. The latter confesses that Armenia and Lithuania are quite different countries. “We do not have mountains and such old churches in our country. We cannot make meals in public places; we can only do it in our homes. We are all impressed and convinced that we shall have an opportunity to discover more interesting places in the future.”

The eventful day wrapped up with dances. More events are awaiting the participants: Armenian, Finnish and Lithuanian students are to climb the southern peak of Mount Aragats.
