The Armenian Symphonic Orchestra is Performing at the Pedagogical
19.09.2014

Today, the Pedagogical University welcomed the symphonic orchestra of the Armenian National Academic Theatre of Opera and Ballet after Alexander Spendiaryan. This is the first case when the symphonic orchestra visits an educational institution. In fact, classical music concerts have become a tradition for the Pedagogical University.

Karen Dourgaryan considers it a great honour to be welcomed at the ASPU and notices that the Pedagogical University has often been discussed recently; it is fairly considered to be one of the leading universities of Armenia.

More to the point the conductor is glad to see that among those present in the hall is Mr. Armen Boudaghyan, the son of Mr. Gevorg Boudaghyan- one of the founders of the orchestra; Mr. Armen Boudaghyan is introducing the history of the orchestra with the hope that the tradition formed at the Pedagogical will pass to other educational institutions as well.

“Opera is the same drama to which music is added”, observes Mr. Armen Boudaghyan emphasizing the existence of the orchestra and then adds that is bearing a huge burden from the first second of being on the stage.

The concert of the orchestra opens with Aram Khachaturian’s “Walls” which was followed by Armenian and foreign famous classical compositions; the soloists of the Theatre of Opera also perform their pieces.

What is more, the concert is full of surprises- the well-known musical piece “Vagharshapat” by Komitas is for the first time presented in Karen Ananyan’s arrangement. At the end of the concert the orchestra jointly performs with the saxophonist students of the Pedagogical University.

Upon the completion of the concert the Rector of the Pedagogical University Mr. Rouben Mirzakhanyan awards the “Pedagogical University Medal” to the Chief conductor of the Armenian National Academic Theatre of Opera and Ballet after Alexander Spendiaryan, Mr. Karen Dourgaryan.

“The art you present is so pure and noble that it has no need of amplifiers at all”, the ASPU Rector mentions at the same time expressing his acknowledgments; he mentions that they will be happy to welcome back the orchestra and to listen to their quality music.
