Armenian State Pedagogical University hosted on Monday Major-General Artak Davtyan, Head of the Operative Department of the General Headquarters of the Armenian Armed Forces, and Lieutenant Colonel Samvel Asatryan, Senior Officer at the same Department.

They visited the University on the occasion of Armenia’s Independence Day marked on September 21.

During the meeting organized by the ASPU Student Council, Major-General Artak Davtyan first introduced to the students the functions of the Department he heads, then spoke about the recent increased tensions along the Line of Contact between the armed forces of Nagorno-Karabakh and Azerbaijan, as well as subversive activities and clashes fomented by Azerbaijan in the past 20 years since the two sides signed a ceasefire in 1994.

Speaking about the advantages of the Armenian Armed Forces, Artak Davtyan stressed that ‘Armenia has a marked advantage over the enemy,’ and Armenian servicemen do not yield to Azerbaijani Special Forces with their high level of preparedness.

“The psychological state and preparedness of soldiers can also play a significant role in such tense situations; eventually, all types of equipment and weapons are used by people,” the Major-General said addressing the future psychologists sitting in the hall.  He assured the presentees that the Armenian Armed Forces pay great attention to this fact. “In our military units we have assistant commanders – officer psychologists, who train and teach soldiers [through interviews and tests] how to confront stress and take effective actions,” said Mr Davtyan.

During the meeting, the head of the Operative Department of the General Headquarters of the Armenian Armed Forces also touched upon the achievements of the RA Armed Forces in recent years, the increase in the arms, the results of the study of international experience, the level of professional knowledge of officers, as well as the activities aimed at developing their pedagogical skills.

At the end of the meeting, Artak Davtyan answered students' questions, giving additional clarifications.
