02.10.2014

On the initiative of Biology teacher Lusine Simonyan, 12th-form pupils of the ASPU Basic College held an open lesson dedicated to the International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer which is observed annually on September 16.

The pupils spoke about the role of the ozone layer and how it protects the Earth from the sun’s harmful ultraviolet rays. The aim was to once again call people’s attention to global environmental problems and make them audible to everyone.

The event was full of interesting information on the topic. Both the participants and the audience were greatly inspired and excited. The open lecture was attended by Naira Safaryan, Head of the ASPU Basic College, Professor Karine Danielyan, Head of the Department of Ecology and Sustainable Development, lecturers Lyudmila Avanesyan and Varujan Hovhannisyan and teachers of the Basic College.

Karine Danielyan thanked the organizers of the event, urging everyone to pass on to the next generations a clean and healthy environment. Naira Safaryan also welcomed the initiative and thanked the participants for the interesting lesson.

She also proposed to make the lessons regular and available for all pupils of the College. The pupils are confident that problems related to the ozone layer depletion and UVB radiation will always be actual and important. The participants wrapped up the event with the slogan “A healthy environment is the future that we dream about.”
