
A series of open criticism lessons that have started recently, are still held at the Philological Faculty.
The Head of the Department of Armenian Modern and New Literature and its Teaching Methods, Professor Souren Danielyan made his regular open –criticism lecture for the students in the presence of the teaching –professorial staff; at this time the subject was the poem “Anush” by Hovhannes Toumanyan.
On this occasion, the Dean of the Faculty, Professor Yuri Davtyan made the opening speech and once again highlighted the importance of this initiative mentioning that organizing continuous open –criticism lessons enriches both students and teaching-professorial team.

During the lecture which was accompanied with rich computer videos and sources, Professor Souren Danielyan referred to the creative history of Anush poem, its variations, after which made a structural analysis of the poem.
“The prelude of the poem already prompts us about the tragedy of love”, the professor noticed and one by one presented the hidden meaning of the pictures mentioning their aesthetic function.
In addition to the social topic, the lecturer urged them to accept the poem as a proof of eternity of love. Mr. Souren Danielyan also noticed that in the given poem one could observe the collision of the East and West; the author presents the Eastern love and conservative theme with Western epic “discipline”; this is the evidence of genius.

What is more, Mr. Souren Danielyan also discussed the heroes of the poem, spoke about the author’s mastery of creating psychology in between the lines.
Upon the end of the lesson the Dean of the Faculty of Philology Yuri Davtyan, the Head of the Department of Armenian New and Modern Literature and its Teaching Methods, the RA NAS Associate Member, Professor Aelita Doloukhanyan made evaluation speeches.
