Today, the Pedagogical University welcomed the lecturer of the Dublin University College of Ireland Ms. Melinei Papazyan, on the initiative of the Faculty of Psychology and Sociology, Department of Psychology Theory and History.
The lecturer who visited the Pedagogical university for the first time, spoke about her professional activities after which presented her lecture headed “Empathy and Understanding” to the MA Psychology students.
At first Ms. Melinei Papazyan tried to understand with different questions how the future psychologist- pedagogues understood “Empathy”, after which introduced the definitions of the term by various psychologists at different times together with the outcomes of her research conducted on their basis.

What is more, the lecturer of the University College noted that especially during the last years psychology has expanded its scope of activities and for this reason empathy should be observed on an interdisciplinary level in combination with philosophy, law and other sciences.
“As a result of a 15-year practice I realized that cogitations and empathy are particularly important in psychology, what is more, I later on found out that the first one is actually a part of the second.”
In addition, Ms. Melinei Papazyan urged the students to be consistent with the mission of the Pedagogical University and not to rush with quick conclusions about this or that term, but to regularly study and investigate instead.
“Creating an empathic environment and correct perception of the concept will assist both during the studies and in future when working as a pedagogue or psychologist; it will change your relationship with those next to you improving the quality of communication.”

The lecture was followed by active discussions; those present asked the guest questions about the subject that interested them most.
The lecturer of the Dublin University College of Ireland Ms. Melinei Papazyan also visited the ASPU Museum where she got acquainted with the history and chronology of the University.
