07.11.2014

Upon the initiative of Ave Maria female chamber choir of Armenian State Pedagogical University (ASPU), the University hosted Krunkner (The Cranes) chorus at the head of Conductor Igrid van Rukh.

The Dutch choir performed for ASPU lecturers and students, presenting Armenian and Georgian songs. The event concluded with the national anthem of the Netherlands.

“We are deeply impressed by the meeting, especially the performance of Armenian songs by the choir. They brilliantly performed “Krunkner” by Khachatur Avetisyan, “Qani Vur Jan Im” by Sayat Nova, “Azg Im Parapants” by Arno Babajanyan, “Erebuni Yerevan” by Edgar Hovhannisyan, giving them unique style and breath,” said Azniv Bareghamyan, a first-year Master’s degree student.

The concert continued with the performance of Ave Maria choir. The latter performed the works of Armenian and foreign composers to the accompaniment of its Art Director Artashes Baburyan, who heads the Department of Conducting and Voice Training at the Pedagogical University, and A. Kinaktsyan.

The guests expressed their deep admiration for the professionalism of the choir, stressing the high quality of their performance.

Professor Yuri Yuzbashyan thanked the organizers and participants of the concert for including Armenian songs in the repertoire. “The Dutch choir has bridged Armenian and Dutch peoples with their beautiful performance of Armenian music,” he said.
