KHACHATUR ABOVYAN ARMENIAN STATE PEDAGOGICAL UNIVERSITY

The Lecturer of the Pedagogical University Department of Music, Qanun player Ms.HamestuhiSargsyan is a PhD student of the Yerevan State Conservatory after Komitas, who passed her first examination with a recital. 

The Quanun player performed favourite modern musical pieces by Alexander Spendarian, Khachatur Avetisyan, Khachatur Martirosyan and other Armenian composers with the accompaniment of different students of the Faculty of Culture and Art Education and the performances of the “Husher”(Memories) dance ensemble.

“, In fact, to many people’s surprise, today’s youthshow greater interest in the Qanun musical instrument, and mostly in playing modern musical pieces on it; the majority of young people in the audience serves as a proof of the above-stated fact,” Ms.HamestouhiSargsyan mentioned during her interview to the old.aspu.am.

What is more, during the concert the Bass Qanun authored by the musician, composer AraGevrogyan was used for the first time after its premiere.

Upon the end of the concert, the members of the examination board, Professors ArzasVoskanyan, TsovinarHovhannisyan and HamestouhiSargsyan’sacademic supervisor Angela Atabekyan praised the excellent work of the Qanun player.
