19.11.2014

Today, an Intercollegiate Career Fair “1 Step form University to the Labour Market” was held at the Yerevan State University with the participation of a number of leading Armenian universities including the Armenian State Pedagogical University after Khachatur Abovyan.

The fair, organized with the Assistance of the RA Ministry of Education and Science, Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs, Armenian Youth Foundation, was held still in May 2014 on the basis of the cooperation memorandum signed at the YSU among centres dealing with students’ career issues from a number of universities; every year one of these universities is organizing a fair for the students of the cooperating universities.

All companies participating in the fair presented information about their own activities, vacancies, internships possibilities as well as information referring to the recruitment policy.

14 out of the list of organizations cooperating with the 10 Faculties of the Pedagogical University were presented at the fair.

The Head of the ASPU Development Planning and Monitoring Department Ms. Rita Gevorgyan observed the following, “this is one of the best opportunities for students to find employment; besides leaving their personal details, they may learn about the available vacancies on the spot and set active communication with 105 employer organizations. With the efforts of our Department a common base will be created to pass the information to the employer.

The representatives of the ASPU Faculties present at the Intercollegiate Career Fair highlighted the importance of the initiative and noticed that it would surely contribute to the increase of students’ awareness about the labour market.

In fact, during the cooperation there have already been cases when a student’s employment issues were solved.

In her turn, the Dean of the Faculty of Biology, Chemistry and Geography Ms. Svetlana Hovakimyan noticed that the organizations in their specialization presented in the fair were the best partners of the Faculty, and their participation in the fair would contribute to solving the employment problem of professionals who have particularly little demand in the labour market.

We would also like to mention that within the framework of the Intercollegiate Career Fair “1 Step form University to the Labour Market” a republican round table discussion on the subject “RA Educational System and labour market; existing problems and steps aimed at expanding interaction” was held with the participation of representatives from state institutes, responsible persons from enterprises, international organizations, business associations and other experts.
