A few days ago, the Komitas Chamber Music House hosted the jubilee soiree dedicated to the 75th birthday and 55th creative life anniversary of the Professor of the ASPU Faculty of Art Education Department of Conducting and Voice Production, Soloist Henri Simonyan.
The concert comprised Armenian, Western-European compositions and Neapolitan songs and duets. On this occasion the state ensemble “Tagharan”, with its artistic director and conductor Sedrak Yerkanyan, the Pedagogical University’s choir “Ave Maria” with its artistic director and conductor Associate Professor Artashes Baburyan, the Faculty’s Associate Professor, Pianist Shackei Tadevosyan, as well as Henri Simonyan’s students Arminei Matevosyan,n Heghinei Ohanyan and Rouben Karaseferyan by the musical accompaniment of Syzanna Petrosyan and Anna Qinaktsyan.
The Professor of the Yerevan State Conservatory after Komitas Mr. Armen Boudaghyan introduced Henri Simonyan’s life, his rich creative and pedagogical activities, emphasized the importance of holding the event considering it a unique initiative on the threshold of 100th commemoration of the Genocide at the same time informing the audience that Henri Simonyan’s ancestors were coming from the western Armenia and that he had inherited his vocal cords and talent from his monastic grandfather.
The professor of the Department of Conducting and Voice production Yuri Yuzbashyan also highly praised the artistic nature of Henri Simonyan together with his high professionalism, and unique performance considering them the result of pedagogic work.
We would also like to mention that it’s many years that the Professor has been delivering lectures at the ASPU Department of Conducting and Voice Production, had laureate graduates who work and perform as soloists both in Armenia and on various overseas stages, as well as performed as a soloist with the oldest State Instrumental Ensemble “Tkzar”, and at the State Musical Ensemble “Tagharan”.
