Review Diplomas to the Future Journalists
15.12.2014

Today, by the initiative of the lecturer Arsen Araqelyan, the freshmen and the fourth year students of the Pedagogical University’s Department of TV Journalism  paid a visit to the National Cinema Center of Armenia; the reason for this undertaking came up with the annual reviews competition within the scope of “Kinoashun 2014” National Cinema and granting the diplomas.

In the opinion of the Director of the National Center for Armenia Mr. Gevorg Gevorgyan, for many students the awarded diploma is the entry to the selected profession; moreover, he is happy to see that there are so many young people excited and busy with the analysis of the movie.

What is more, during the meeting, the Director of the Cinema Center introduced the future journalists with the history of the “Hayfilm” studio, the process of shotting movies, the characteristics and other details.

Likewise, speaking about the films created in the past, Gevorg Gevorgyan also noticed that there had been a time when the cinematography required a lot of efforts and work, the editorial board made serious criticism and analysis of the films.

“Today the creators have the freedom to create a film out of any idea, but the creative potential is not fully demonstrated, because of which the quality also suffers.”

The lecturer of the Department of TV Journalism Arsen Araqelyan highlighted the journalists’ participation in such competitions, particularly underlining that it is done from the very first year of specialization. The 4th year student of the Department of TV Journalism Aghvan Asoyan presented in the reviews competition the review of the film by Rouben Qochar named “My name is Viola”.

In fact, when watching the movie, the future journalist remembered the books “Homo Faber” by Max Frisch, the “Metamorphosis” by Kafka, and “Thus Spoke Zarathustra” by Nietzsche. “Sex-horror” this is how Aghvan Asoyan characterizes the film he watched and observes that there is no actors’ play- a frozen girl with a meaningless glance, a monotonous voice and a text spoken out with false literacy.

“To cut is short, the film was a failure, the message was not received, of course, if there was a message” he added.

In her turn, the freshman of the Department of TV Journalism Mariam Ghardyan reviewed the film “Cool kids don’t cry” with a beginner critic’s microscope trying to analyze the humane feature presented in the film and the complete manifestation of an actor’s emotionality. She confesses that even in her age it is inevitable to notice the flaws of the film however, she is sure that this is the first and the most important step to recognize, to realize and to get skilled in the professional field.
