Pedagogical University- a PNCO or a Foundation

During the Academic Board session, the Vice-Rector for General Affairs Armen Tamazyan discussed the organizational and legal status of the University.

“PNCO or a Foundation?” With this question the Vice-Rector introduced the Board members with the main differences between the two organizational-legal statuses.

“As a legal entity both organizations have almost the same liabilities and responsibilities,” he noticed but added that opposite to the PNCOs, foundations have great opportunities to participate in charity programmes in the education sector in RA both as a programme implementer and a beneficiary.

“The organizational-legal status of a foundation will grant the University with a wider scope of autonomy, allowing it to formulate a more operative and better functioning management system,” Armen Tamazyan concluded.

Accordingly, the Academic Board made a decision to submit a petition to the Government about the reorganization of the University.

The latter thoroughly introduced the upcoming activities to be conducted by the newly created Chess Educational Research Center, mentioned the necessary conditions of the activity, the expected results, problems and research programmes.

“The creation of the Chess Educational Research Center is aimed at contradictory ideas about the effectiveness of chess, stimulating the connection between innovations and teaching chess at schools, absence of tools for assessment of educational progress, absence of reliable tools for assessment of special need, and slow pace of research internationalization,” he added.
