Today, the ASPU Rector Rouben Mirzakhanyan awarded the Head of Internship Department of the Faculty of Culture of the University of Oulu in Finland Vesa-MattiSarenius with the “Pedagogical University” medal.
The Rector of the University highly praised the work carried out by the Finn partner who visited the Pedagogical for a fortnight and noticed that the activities conducted by him and its outcomes raised major interest.
“During one of our meetings you confessed that our country, the nation and the Pedagogical University remain in your heart. We can hardly imagine better appraisal and pride than these words”, Rouben Mirzakhanyan added.
“I am not working at the Pedagogical University for prizes and medals; I love the environment in here and I‘ll surely return”, highlighted Vesa-MattiSarenius thus expressing his acknowledgements to the Rector.
After the memorandum signed between the University of Oulu in Finland and the Armenian State Pedagogical University after Khachatur Abovyan already three years ago, Vesa-MattiSarenius has numerously visited Armenia; as he now remembers, this is his thirteenth visit.
During his two weeks’ visit the Finn Mathematician partner managed to discuss the difficulties in learning and teaching Mathematics, its peculiarities and new methods with the students of the Faculty of Primary Education.
Moreover, he had a meeting with the University’s internship theses supervisors, lecturers taking a training, spoke about the assessment system, international standards for education research, learning and assessment systems at the University.
Likewise, Vesa-MattiSarenius discussed the structure of the postgraduate theses, objectives, and details about the frequently made mistakes with the MA students of the Educational Management which is considered a novelty at the University.
In addition, speaking about the business trips to the ASPU the representative of the University of Oulu in Finland notices that changes are obvious during the last years, a huge amount of work has been conducted; education has become more student-centered, teaching and learning methods have changed.
“A few years ago, when we just started out cooperation, we had the impression of being in the role of instructors. While today, the roles have changed and we have become partners- we teach and learn from one another, and solve the outstanding issues jointly.”
The Pedagogical University’s Finn partner Vesa-MattiSarenius, who has already mastered the Armenian alphabet, admits that even before leaving he is already looking forward to the following trip to Armenia, and bids goodbye to his partners with the Armenian “Tstesutyun”.
