Inviting foreign scientists has already become a tradition at the ASPU Faculty of History and Law; these scientists refer to the historical events related to Armenians with a new approach.
Today, the guest of the Faculty was the PHD of the International Centre for Ancient Near Eastern and Mediterranean Studies, Dr. Robert Dann.
The scope of the latter’s scientific research includes archeology of the Urartu and Achaemenid Empires as well as the architecture of the Ancient Near East.
During his lecture headed “Some considerations referring to the existence of the Urartu and Achaemenid Empires in the area of Nakhijevan in the light of new archeological data” Dr. Robert Dan introduced the story of archeological studies conducted in Nakhijevan.
Moreover, based on the latest archeological information the rapporteur expressed his own opinion about the existence of the Urartu Empire in Nakhijevan.
Furthermore, other questions about the presence of the Achaemenid Empire in the same area were also discussed.
In his turn the Dean of the Faculty of History and Law, Mr. Edgar Hovhannisyan highlighted the importance of such lectures, mentioning that this kind of meetings foster students and lecturers to get familiarized with the opinions and scientific viewpoints of foreign specialists about the history and archeology of Urartu, and to enrich their knowledge.
Likewise, the Head of the Department of History of Armenia Mr. AshotPiliposyan added that he was glad to get acquainted with the non-native specialist who had conducted archeological excavations in Turkey and Iran, whose impartial and objective data would once again confirm the fact that Nkhijevanhad been a part of our homeland.
And last but not least, Mr. AshotPiliposyan expressed his assurance that cooperation between their Department and the Italian scientist will continue.
