Every year, the Department of First Aid, Emergency Situations and Civil Defence of the Pedagogical University organises an open class to mark World Civil Defence Day.
On the occasion, Hakob Grigoryan, Head of the Department of First Aid, Emergency Situations and Civil Defence, presented the students of the Faculty of Special Education [specializing in Logopaedics, Ergo-therapy and Psychology], representatives of the teaching staff and Shota Babayan, Head of the University's Civil Defence Headquarters, the structure, goals and objectives of Civil Defence, at the same time stressing the importance of their participation in these important events.
Hakob Grigoryan emphasized the importance of Civil Defence, assuring everyone that it is aimed at defending the country’s population and economy from enemy’s attacks, as well as implementing rescue and restoration operations in contaminated sites and flooded areas.
Perch Karapetyan, a lecturer of the Department of First Aid, Emergency Situations and Civil Defence, referred to various emergency situations in Armenia, presenting in detail the reaction and actions of the population, including students in emergency situations and natural disasters, as well as the system of Civil Defence, its tasks and functions.
Shota Babayan, in turn, suggested creating rescue teams in each Faculty and organizing competitions between them.
At the end of the event, a documentary film dedicated to Civil Defence and emergency situations was shown which further strengthened students’ knowledge on Civil Defence and Emergency Situations.
