“The education of a legal educator does not imply that you will become an official and a lawyer at a time. It is, first of all, necessary for developing an educated and intelligent person inside you. Everything happening around us is regulated by law. The knowledge of laws makes every person conscious, intelligent and civilized and distinguishes him from his peers,” Chairman of Armenia’s Investigative Committee Aghvan Hovsepyan, who also chairs the Qualifying Examination Committee, said today during the handover of MA diplomas to graduates of the Faculty of History and Law.
“These diplomas do not mark the end of your education; rather, they will further deepen your knowledge and understanding on legal issues. This is not only a right but also a duty which implies constant improvement of your legal knowledge. Laws frequently change and lose their force. New laws are written and if one does not keep pace with changes, he will be deprived of his title,” Mr Hovsepyan added.
Addressing the graduates, Edgar Hovhannisyan, Dean of the Faculty of History and Law, said it was binding that the graduates were receiving their diplomas from a specialist, who had had a great contribution to the legal sector of the newly independent Armenia.
Mr Hovhannisyan also expressed hope that the students would follow Aghvan Hovsepyan’s example and become good specialists of the sphere. “We have established a good tradition of handing over diplomas in a special ceremony. Today is a holiday [for you] which marks the start of your development and advancement as degreed professionals. It will also contribute to the development of your professional skills and help you use your knowledge for your motherland.
Twenty-six students today received diplomas, with one of them receiving Diploma with Honours. The best student of the group, Nelly Chnavayan, comes from Kartikam village in Javakhk, where she teaches Civic Education at a local school. Nelly says the Master's Degree Diploma is binding and the Diploma with Honours is double binding.
Nelly promises to do her best to present her knowledge to the Georgians in the best way, maintain the honour of her Homeland and the Pedagogical University in Javakhk and transfer her knowledge to future generations.
