04.03.2015

Ninety-six students of Armenian State Pedagogical University have received a full refund of tuition within the framework of a scholarship competition announced by the Youth Foundation of Armenia.

The Chairman of the ASPU Student Council, Nersik Margaryan, today handed over certificates to the winning students, stressing that the program, implemented with the assistance of the Armenian government and the Ministry of Education and Science, is a great help to their families: it helps ease the burden of paying tuition and enhances student performance.

Sofia Poghosyan, a first-year student of the Faculty of Mathematics, Physics and Informatics, says she learnt about the competition through the Student Council. She was glad to know that he would receive a tuition refund and relieve her family from the burden of paying tuition fees.

Artyom Simonyan, a student of the Faculty of History and Law, says the program will encourage all other students, who are not included in it, to try their best to be granted a scholarship. “This is a good example to show that knowledge is appreciated nowadays,” he said.

The competition was announced for first-year students who study at state-run universities and are liable to pay tuition fees.

The selection process was based on clearly defined criteria, those including students’ academic performance, their social situation, etc.

The names of the winning students are available on the website of the Youth Foundation of Armenia heh.am.
