The Pedagogical University hosted the Deputy of the “YedinayaRossiya” party, the members of the Anti –Corruption Committee, editors-in-chief of the “MoskovskiyKomsomolets” (Moscow Komsomol Member) and “Rossia v Aziatsko-tikhookeanskomregione”(Russia in Asian-Pacific Ocean Region) magazine Boris Reznik and Alexander Minkin, who are visiting Armenia within the scope of the fifth international media conference  “At the foot of Mount Ararat”.

The guests introduced the students of the Department of Journalismand the teaching staff with the course they made, spoke about their current activities, and discussed the problems and challenges of the field.

“Alexander Minkin is one of the bravest figures in journalism; he is not afraid to write the truth and to unveil the shortcomings of Russian reality. He is the author of famous letters addressed to the RF President Vladimir Putin. After Minkin’s articles we are often afraid for his life,” highlighted Boris Reznik when introducing his friend.

“Be the opposition, write the truth and stay objective”, this is what Alexander Minkin urged to the future journalists.

“40% of students having chosen the profession of a journalist are not really becoming journalists in future. Majority of them chose their profession randomly, often only to obtain certificates. As a rule they do not distinguish between journalism and PR and they forget that just like doctors, journalists too should examine the disease and find the recovery”, mentions Alexander Minkin adding that they should be ready to face the truth that no one likes journalist who enlighten the reality.

In his turn, Boris Reznik noticed that even though highly qualified specialists are employed at the Moscow State University Faculty of Journalism, still a crisis can also be observed here.

Moreover, speaking about the current state of the printed press today, the guests were sorry to notice that on the one hand the internet hand, on the other hand the increasing price of paper and the monopoly in the field are suppressing the development of printed press.

“Without economic independence it will be useless to speak about the mass media objectivism,” Boris Reznik stated.

During the meeting the Russian journalists positively assessed the Armenian membership to the EAEU emphasizing the fact that it is the only correct way particularly in case of having enemy neighbours.

“It is the only way for Armenia to survive”.

Last but not least, the guests also spoke about the economic advantages expected within the EAEU, and were sorry to notice the level of migration in Armenia; they in fact advised the outstanding representatives Diaspora to return and develop their homeland. Boris Reznik and Alexander Minkin also highlighted that Armenia has a huge attraction and Armenians have a great potential to return and create their future in their motherland.
