Armenian State Pedagogical University welcomed the Armenian intellectual, benefactor, the President of the “AVA Group of Companies Oil & Gas Projects” Vladimir Haroutyunyan,

who lives in Russia. He had numerous charity acts in his Motherland, and what is most important, it is thanks to him that the Medieval Monastery of Kecharis in Tsaghkadzor was reconstructed.
The businessman and intellectual, who is in now in Yerevan on the Pedagogical University’s invitation in particular, delivered a public lecture at the Hall of the Faculty of Culture.
Before starting the lecture, the Pedagogical University Chancellor, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor Rouben Mirzakhanyan greeted the presentees, and introduced some biographical facts and details about the guest, also outlined that it was his great honor to welcome the guest at the Pedagogical University.
After that, as decided by the Academic Council, Rouben Mirzakhanyan conferred the title of the Honorary Doctor of the Pedagogical University to Vladimir Haroutyunyan.
In his turn, Vladimir Haroutyunyan expressed his gratitude for the invitation and commenced his lecture headed “Russia-Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow”.
During the lecture he threw a glimpse at the Romanovs’ Russia, the Soviet power and the Perestroika/ Restructuring/ Period.
In his contemplations about the future, Haroutyunyan focused particular importance to the aspect of hope without which, he considers the human factor pointless.
Likewise, the intellectual puts emphasis on several issues to have a safe and secure life; among those issues are the investment of a modern system into the social-political life, a gradual and consistent correction of the mistakes made during the privatization period, economic regeneration and recovery, and , what is most important, a right of free education for everybody.
More than that, Vladimir Haroutyunyan touches upon the perspectives of cooperation with the Pedagogical University, and mentions about a programme which is still in the process of development; the programme implies the establishment of a school on Moscow, where the pupils will study the native Armenian language during the first for years, and then in higher classes, they study the Armenian History and History of Armenian Church, all in native Armenian language.
The Pedagogical University will provide the school with the corresponding skilled and qualified professionals and the professional literature.
Upon the end of the meeting, Vladimir Haroutyunyan presented the collection of his authored books.
It should also be mentioned, that our compatriot Vladimir Haroutyunyan is originally from Western Armenia, who was born in Russia and held high and extremely responsible positions in his career path.
Vladimir Haroutyunyan graduated the Moscow State Institute of Foreign Affairs in 1961, and soon after that was employed by the USSR Ministry of Foreign Trade in the All-Union “Soyuzneftexport”. Then, form 1965-1971 he was the Director of the “Nafta” Joint-Stock Company in London. From 1972-1974 he was the Head of the “Soyuzneftexport” eastern branch, and from 1974-1981 he ran the “Nafta” Joint-Stock Company as its General Director in London. From 1981-1986, he worked as the Vice President of the All-Union “Soyuzneftexport”, and from 1986-1992 he was in charge of that huge structure.
Form 1992-1995 Vladimir Haroutyunyan was the Senior Adviser of the President of Association of Austrian Industrialists, and since 1996 up to now he has been running the “AVA Group of Companies Oil & Gas Projects”.
