Rector of Armenian State Pedagogical University (ASPU) Ruben Mirzakhanyan today handed over Certificates of Participation to members of the teaching staff who completed the first stage of a refresher course.
“We are trying to introduce training programs that will be innovative in all directions. I particularly emphasize the importance of modern technologies which will not only strengthen your theoretical knowledge, but also develop your skills and abilities on condition that you apply them in practice,” Mr Mirzakhanyan said adding that one cannot work effectively unless he knows how to present the material properly.
The rector added that in the next stages of the training they plan to present the lectures of foreign specialists which are of great value and importance from the professional point of view.
“The more we work, the more we realize that there is more to learn,” Mr Mirzakhanyan said encouraging the lecturers participating in the training course to point out the weaknesses and shortcomings of the course in order to address all deficiencies during the training process.
On behalf of the lecturers, Professor Julietta Gyulamiryan thanked the organizers for the interesting course and suggested considering the needs of trainees before the start of the next stage in order to make them compliant with the course.
There were also other proposals concerning replacement of lecturers who are involved in the course, increase of practical hours for several academic disciplines, including modern technologies, and other issues.
A total of 50 lecturers were involved in the first stage of the refresher course consisting of 60 hours. The course is conducted by leading specialists from the ASPU, Yerevan State University, Russian-Armenian (Slavonic) University, Ministry of Education and Science, World Bank and Microsoft-Armenia educational program.
