Graduate students of Armenian State Pedagogical University today hosted Colonel Suren Davtyan, Head of Defence Ministry’s Division in charge of training personnel in educational institutions of foreign countries.

During the meeting, the guest familiarized ASPU students with programs implemented at the the Military Institute after Vazgen Sargsyan and Military Aviation Institute after Marshal Armenak Khanperyants since 2009, enumerating the privileges and obligations envisaged by the programs.

Suren Davtyan also advised young people, who will be drafted into the army in spring, to sign a contract with the Defence Ministry to enroll into a one-year training course and then a three-year contract that will allow them to serve [as an officer] in respective positions.

“Military training education for young people with higher education lasts nine months,” he said adding that in addition to providing free education, the Ministry also provides young people with free lodging and assists in many other issues during these four years.

The program is also open to girls. After getting one-year military training education they will be granted the rank of lieutenant and serve in the Armed Forces.

Speaking about the restrictions of the program, Mr Davtyan said the only obstacle can be the unsatisfactory results of a medical test. Those who do not want attend the course will be drafted into military service.

“Time, knowledge and resources – these are limited values,” Mr Davtyan said in conclusion, urging the students to study well and rely only on their own abilities in all circumstances.

At the end of the meeting, the students addressed their questions to the guest.
