07.04.2015

“The education sector is one of the ‘most beautiful’ sectors in Armenia, considering the number of female representatives working there,” Minister of Education and Science Armen Ashotyan said at Armenian State Pedagogical University on April 7.

Congratulating all women on Motherhood and Beauty Day [marked in Armenia on April 7], Minister Ashotyan handed over awards to female representatives of the education sector.

“I would like to express my sincere gratitude to all women teachers, educators and lecturers for their impeccable work and great contribution. I also thank our students who not only beautify the education sector with their presence, but also stand out as a shining example to others with their learning. May beauty and happiness always accompany you! I wish that in the coming years we have an opportunity to congratulate you on two occasions –for you beauty and motherhood,” said Mr Ashotyan.

The minister then noted that in Armenia, people generally glorify and thank teachers, specifically female teachers working in schools. “Today we are honouring women representatives of the education sphere for the first time in such a format, and maybe our awards are a little belated. May our love and respect accompany you throughout your life! Let me again congratulate all women lecturers working at universities, colleges and other educational institutions in Armenia, wishing their families all the best and success at work.”

During the meeting, several female lecturers were awarded with the “Gold Medal” - the highest award of the Ministry of Education and Science of Armenia, others received diplomas and certificates by the Minister.

Hasmik Petrosyan, Scientific Secretary, Candidate of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Associate Professor, received Diploma and Hasmik Sargsyan, Chairperson of the Trade Union Committee, Candidate of Pedagogical Science, received Certificate of Appreciation.

“State attention is pleasant, and this certificate was both binding and surprising. We are committed to the important mission of educating generations. The country’s future is also determined by the upbringing of a literate educator. I promise to work more enthusiastically and diligently from now on,” Hasmik Sargsyan told old.aspu.am.

“The diploma given by the Minister made the day even more festive,” Hasmik Petrosyan said. She added that although she has been awarded twice, she is always pleased and happy to see her work appreciated.

A pleasant surprise was awaiting the guests at the end of the event. “Promise me,” a song by Minister Armen Ashotyan, was premiered at the ASPU. The Minister said the song was a present to Armenian women.
