10.04.2015

The Rector of the Pedagogical University Rouben Mirzakhanyan and the Head of the Educational and Methodological Department of the University, Vice-Rector Mher Melik-Bakhchyan are on a business trip in Russia’s capital city Moscow.

The University’s delegates were welcomed by the Rector of the Moscow State University of Psychology and Education Vitaly Rubtsov, who considered the cooperation as the core of the meeting expressing his hope that it would continue, strengthen and expand.

Discussing further expectations, Vitaliy Rubtsov noticed that their university was the federal operator of a wide-scale programme of modernization of pedagogical education, that they train BA and MA students in the given field with new programmes and approaches.

Besides, the Rector highlighted that this was not the only interesting programme; with the relevant Governmental decree the professional standards in the social sector had been redrafted to prepare human resources in that field.

Likewise, the Rector of the Moscow State University of Psychology and Education referred to the cooperation with foreign universities, proposing to the ASPU Rector to jointly carry out exchange programmes.

Further on, during the meeting the ASPU Rector emphasized that the Moscow State University of Psychology and Education had a lot of similarities with his University.

“Although we have a smaller country but the Pedagogical University is a weighty educational establishment and is on the second place with the number of students. Besides, the University has a Psychological Council, a large number of Doctors –Professors of the field are working with us, and we may actually claim that we have the exclusive role in the field of special pedagogy and pedagogy in general”.

The ASPU Rector in his turn emphasized that the University is of international interest in some of its directions mentioning the programme “Chess at Schools”.

“Armenia is the only country where chess is a mandatory subject at schools; having this in mind the Pedagogical University created a technically over-equipped Educational Research Center for Chess replenished with pedagogues and psychologists”.

Moreover, Rouben Mirzakhanyan recommended to his counterpart to come out of the scope of cooperation and develop activities within the exceptional but already traditional for the University “Summer School” too. Based on the previous experience, the Rector assured that they would do everything for Russian students not only to enjoy their stay, but also to love Armenia and Armenians.

Vitally Rubtsov appreciated the proposal and expressed his interest in visiting Armenia himself  and getting familiar with the historical and cultural heritage of the country.

Furthermore, the Rector of the Pedagogical University spoke about the international cooperation, introduced the partnering universities, as well as mentioned the students’ language awareness.

More to the point, the Rector of the Moscow State University of Psychology and Education suggested to include the ASPU students in the MA module within the scope of exchange programmes so that they can see the university, collaborate with volunteers and participate in a variety of courses.

In addition, Vitaly Rubtsov suggested thinking about a number of MA programmes, to have a joint evaluation system and diploma. The ASPU Rector Rouben Mirzakhanyan granted the Rector of the Moscow State University of Psychology and Education the “Pedagogical University” medal.

The business trip continues.
