At the initiative of Anahit Lalabekyan, Head of the Department of English Language Teaching at Armenian State Pedagogical University, students of different Faculties today posed their righteous claim in connection with the Armenian Genocide.
Video presentations, reports, spiritual songs and ‘a trial’ with the participation of representatives of Armenian and Turkish authorities… The students presented historical facts to support their opinions on the heinous crime of 1915: the undecided international community that acts as a ‘judge’ continues to announce a neutral verdict and avoids condemning the bitter reality.
Around 120 students from various Faculties united to conduct joint studies, make forget-me-nots - a chosen symbol of commemoration of the Centennial of the Armenian Genocide and collect thematic photos and images for the exhibition.
At the end of the event, the participants started an interesting discussion on the vision of Armenians, especially the current generation, of the future. A pupil of the ASPU Basic College announced [on behalf of his friends] the final answer of the young generation, “We demand and we are determined to return what belongs to us.”
Anahit Lalabekyan expressed her satisfaction with the event and said the students representing different Faculties were able to convey their thoughts and message in a literate way and in good English and form the just demand of an entire nation. "We received back what we had given and shared- knowledge and ability to work and cooperate with students from other Departments and pupils of the Basic College. I am sure that these young people will be able to replace us, championing our demand and achieving recognition of the Genocide,” she said.
Foreign-language events organized by the Faculty of Foreign Languages within the framework of commemorative events marking the 100th university of the Armenian Genocide will continue in the coming weeks.
