ASPU students meet with education expert
14.04.2015

On the initiative of the Student Scientific Society (SSS), the Faculty of History and Law recently hosted education expert Serob Khachatryan.

The latter spoke about the problems of modern-day students and explained why students are not interested in learning. When speaking about the reasons for students’ lack of interest, the expert offered the future educators ways and methods to motivate students and make lessons more interesting for them.

“In modern society, there are a number of factors that affect the growth and development of the youth,” the guest said focusing on some of them – information attack, culture of immobility, emotional manipulation of the youth, technology, generation gap, etc.

Serob Khachatryan believes that too much information diverts students’ concentration and attention from significant things, making them waste time on trivial things. Being the most active part of society, the youth is open to changes and novelties, and it is very easy to influence them.

Speaking about the immobility of culture, the education expert stressed that young people want to gain everything easily and do not exert much efforts to achieve their goals. Mr Khachatryan referred to other issues as well. His speech was followed by a lively discussion. At the end of the meeting, students expressed desire to participate in discussions on educational challenges more frequently.
