
On 15 April, the rector of the Pedagogical University Rouben Mirzakhanyan participated in the 13th Eurasian Universities Association Congress at the Saint Petersburg State Economic University.
The Chairman of the Eurasian Universities Association, Rector of the Moscow State University, Academician V. Sadovnichi made an opening speech and presented a report referring to the activities and development perspectives of the Association.
After the report active discussions were held with the participation of Rectors of the CIS countries’ universities belonging to the Association followed by the selection of applicants for the new members of the managing staff of the Association.
Further on, general questions were discussed particularly referring to the 2015 activity plan of the Eurasian Association of Universities; likewise the necessity of organizing scientific and practical conferences on the topics of “Universities and Society”, “School-University- Society” was conversed.
By the end of the Congress a decision was made stating the importance of improving the quality of science and education in the Eurasian economic territory, raising the role of universities and their responsibility, and the significant input of the Eurasian Universities Association in strengthening the relations among the friendly nations and countries on the Eurasian territory, as well as preparing specialists and increasing patriotism in young people.
The Eurasian Universities Association implies new forms of educational developments and objectives, freshened up cooperation among the member universities, developing unified approaches as well as practical steps aimed at the integration of universities into the Eurasian Universities Association.
In the decision adopted by the Association major importance was paid to the joint steps aimed at training specialists, modern educational requirements, approaches, establishment of a unified assessment system, as well as introduction of joint mutually recognizable graduate certificate awarding practices.
Likewise, greater significance is also given to the research institutes, development of professional councils for natural sciences and humanities, involvement of young scientists into joint research projects and other processes aimed at sustainable development of society.
Among those participating in the 13th Eurasian Universities Association were Rectors from 74 universities of the CIS region the relations of which outlined new perspectives of cooperation.
